¡¡¡¡¡¡Approved by Shanghai Municipal Government and filed in Ministry
of Education of Central Government, Shanghai Putuo District
Spare-time University was set up by Putuo District People¡¯s
Government as a higher education institution for adults . It
is under the leadership of both Shanghai Education Committee
and Putuo District People¡¯s Government. The school sticks to
the principles of ¡°being innovative, keeping pace with the current,
fitting itself into the market and serving the society.¡±
In the past 20 years, the school has lost no effort to develop
and consolidate many new subjects, better the school management,
and always aimed at training practical personnel needed by the
society. The school has won the prestige and been named as Shanghai
Advanced Unit in Adult Education and Unit of Civilization in
Putuo District.
¡¡¡¡Now the school has developed itself into a comprehensive higher
educational institution for adults with departments as liberal
arts, engineering, management, economy and art. The school has
15 specialties such as marketing, e-commerce, logistics management,
administration, accounting, e-accounting, finance, securities
& tech-investment, economic trading & practice,

computer software,
computer application, computer application & quality management,
product designing. The school are developing multi-level, various-scale,
multi-purpose training programs, self-teaching higher education
exam, junior and senior college education and others, with the
total enrollment of 5000.
¡¡¡¡ The school focus greatly on faculty member development. At
present, the school has 76 full-time faculty members, among
them 2 are professors, 62% are lecturer level and above. A motivating
organism is established for the experienced to guide the young,
and to provide a platform for the young teachers to show their
value in the shortest possible time.
¡¡¡¡The school never neglects its contact with the society, offers
positions like members of specialty committee and teaching to
well-known experts and entrepreneurs, so as to consolidate the
faculty development. The school also tries hard to promote teaching
and research projects, holding annual meeting of teaching and
research continually since 1985. Thus the level of teaching
and research has been greatly elevated. Mr. Hu, Yanzhao, secretary
of Putuo Party Committee, warden of Putuo District, wrote epigraph
for the annual meeting as ¡° hold on and win new honors.¡± Characteristic
specialty construction is one of the priorities of the school.
Marketing specialty has spent 10 years exploring the teaching
approach characterized in the combination of production, teaching
and research and made much progress. The specialty has been
assessed as the characteristic one of Shanghai higher vocational
education and state-level teaching trial specialty. The textbook
compiled by its faculty members is listed as the textbook for
higher vocational education and used nationwide.
¡¡¡¡The school pays much attention on practice-focused teaching,
has established training base of marketing, e-commerce center,
computer room, audio-visual room, on-line reading room and PD
web site to meet the needs of teaching and practice.
¡¡¡¡ Shanghai Putuo District Spare-time University is facing both
the challenge and opportunities of the new century and entering
into a fast developing period. |
